Matching power to your workload
An over-powered tractor costs more than it needs to, both to buy and to run; an under-powered one wears out prematurely. For ploughing and seedbed preparation on an average arable farm, 150–250 horsepower covers most needs. Larger operations or heavy-draft work (wide ploughs, combined implements) justify more powerful models such as the Case IH Magnum or Massey Ferguson 8690 we offer.
Engine hours and maintenance history
Hours are a useful indicator, but maintenance history matters just as much. A well-maintained tractor with 6,000 hours will often be worth more than a neglected one with 3,000. We always ask for the service record before listing a machine for sale.
